Lecture: behind-the-scenes look at the Pioneers exhibition

  • Date: 20 April 12:30 - 14:00
  • Location: Nationaal Archief - melden bij de receptie

How do you get from 15 million photographs to an exhibition of 200 photographs made by 43 women? On Saturday, April 20, exhibition maker Susanne van der Wolf and photo specialist Elwin Hendrikse will talk about the creation of the exhibition Pioneers - Photography by Women. They will take you through the shaping of the exhibition concept and the research process, and share special finds that surfaced during the research.

They also talk about difficult choices in the selection process and show examples of photographs that, for various reasons, just didn't make it into the exhibition.

The National Archives is open on Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00. You are welcome to visit the exhibition before or after the lecture. Please check in at the reception desk, where a ticket will be waiting for you.

This event is part of the programming accompanying the exhibition Pioneers - Photography by Women in the National Archives in The Hague.

Price: €10,- incl. coffee/tea and entrance to the exhibition
