Liberation Festival The Hague

On Sunday May 5, 2024 the Liberation Festival The Hague will present a strong substantive program including stand-up comedy, a Freedom Lecture, a talk show and of course lots of music. The festival will take place on Malieveld and in the adjacent Provinciehuis.

During the Liberation Festival The Hague there will again be two large stages on the Malieveld. On the ASN BANK STAGE are performances by the band SON MIEUX from The Hague (the Ambassador of Freedom who comes to the Malieveld by helicopter), afternoon headliner KREZIP, the tribute band RONDJE DOE MAAR, the new pop talent ADRIAAN PERSONS, the group PERSONAL TRAINER and the American artists RAY GREENE (known from Carlos Santana and Tower of Power) and LIV WARFIELD (from Prince's band). The festival will open on this stage with a performance by singer BIBI BREIJMAN from The Hague, who will then present the rest of the festival.

The SENA PERFORMERS STAGE will feature performances by artists such as POKE, ROSS & IBA ft. EXTINCE, REANNY, NYARKO, AFRITUDE (winner of the HI The Hague Student DJ Contest), DANIMAL, CATF.GHT and BILLY THE KIT. Very special on this stage is also the performance of DJ FVO (Prince Floris van Oranje). The Hague music organizations GUAP and Haags Hiphop Centrum (H3C) present showcases of new talents from The Hague on this stage.

The Liberation Festival The Hague is emphatically more than a pop festival. During the event, attention is paid to freedom, democracy and the rule of law in many different ways. This year the program will again take place in the Provinciehuis.
The afternoon program at the VFONDS PODIUM IN THE PROVINCE HOUSE will begin with a performance by WOEZEL & PIP especially for children. JONGE HAAGSE DICHTERS will also perform at the Provinciehuis. There will also be a FREEDOM COLLEGE WITH RAOUL HEERTJE, a talk show with RON FRESEN and a performance by the stand-up comedy company PUUR GELUL with MAARTEN SPANJER and JEFFREY SPALBURG, among others. A large number of historic army vehicles will be displayed on the square in front of the Provincial House.

For the third year we welcome the HI The Hague Student Experience on Malieveld. All of The Hague's higher education institutions and a large number of student associations will present themselves to the public here, and DJs from The Hague will be spinning throughout the day.

The festival grounds will also include a large reception for hundreds of (young) veterans who will visit the Liberation Festival The Hague at the invitation of Mayor Jan van Zanen and have their own area on the Malieveld to meet each other. The concert by the tribute band Rondje Doe Maar will be specially offered by the mayor to the veterans, in gratitude for their commitment to peace and security, in the Netherlands and elsewhere in the world.

Other regular elements at the festival such as the Plein van de Vrijheid, the festival market, the Haags Hiphop Centrum Area, the carousel and an area with children's activities will of course also return this year on the Malieveld.

Thanks to financial contributions from the Municipality of The Hague, the Province of South Holland and the Central Government, as well as the support of several funds and sponsors, this year's Liberation Festival The Hague is again open to everyone free of charge.
