The Hague Peace Conference and the birth of a new world order

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the First Hague Peace Conference. To mark this anniversary , the Library of the Peace Palace is organizing a book launch with Benjamin Duerr, author of the book “The Dream of The Hague: The Hague Peace Conference and the Emergence of a New Order.”

After a brief introduction by Dr. Hab. Marcin Czelepak, Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, Benjamin Duerr will present his book. Then, led by Tjitske Lingsma, Mayor Jan van Zanen, Rolien Sasse and Ambassador Paul van den IJssel will engage in a conversation about the origins and development of multilateralism since the 20th century. The conversation will focus on the First and Second Hague Peace Conferences, the individuals involved and the agreement to establish the Permanent Court of Arbitration and Peace Palace.
